Artist Bio:

Liza is a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University, with a major focused on painting.  She has a variety of experience from college in different art forms, including ceramics, printmaking, and graphic design.

The themes she works from consist of her most vivid bittersweet and colorful memories of her past. Her technique is different from others because she uses an all over approach, by immersing herself with sounds from those memories and allocating shapes with specific colors to create depth and meaning. She uses herself as a filter for her memories.

Her concepts often derive from the philosophical belief that reality is formed by our thoughts and ideas. Therefore, she wants to create an abstract realm to help people perceive the world differently. Art movements like abstract expressionism motivate her to create organic, expressive forms that recreate a mood. She is also inspired by Kandinsky because of the formal qualities of his work, like form and line and how they interact. Overall, she strives to create an engaging composition that uses formal language that emphasizes color.
